What it is
Inaugurated in 1987, the Brazilian Centre for Services and Protein Research (CBSP) performs research, provides assistance and collaboration, and renders specialized services in protein chemistry to university researchers, institutes and industry. Even before it was incorporated in 1985, the centre had completed the first complete sequencing of amino acids. In 1990, it installed automatic protein sequencing.

What it is
The main purpose of the UnB Centre for Psychological Care and Study (CAEP) is to provide the psychological services developed by the University’s Institute of Psychology. The clinical practice serves both internal and external communities. Furthermore, the centre supports teaching, research and extension activities.

What it is
In partnership with the School of Physical Education (FEF) and the Ministry of Sports, UnB supports a unit of the UnB Centre for the Study of Sports and Leisure (CEDES) network. The centre researches and actively promotes understanding of physical fitness from an interdisciplinary perspective involving physical education and social science. Furthermore, it promotes the diffusion of scientific and technological awareness in the areas of sport and leisure.

What it is
The Edgard Graeff Centre for Documenting (CEDIARTE), in connection with the UnB Department of Architecture and Urbanism (FAU), supports research and knowledge production in architecture. The centre has a collection of 3,243 works, 470 periodicals, and more than 200 VHS video tapes and CD Roms while functioning as a branch of the UnB Central Library (BCE).
  
Centre for Geriatric Medicine (CMI)

What it is
Created in 2003, the Centre for Geriatric Medicine (CMI) at the University Hospital of Brasilia (HUB) provides medical care in the area of geriatrics, as well as being active in teaching, research and extension. Care is provided by professionals in areas such as medicine, psychology, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and odontology. The centre focuses on problems of dementia, mainly Alzheimer’s disease. The patients consult and then participate in physical activities, socialization, and cognitive stimulation, etc. These practices help develop flexibility, reflection, attention and motor skills.
 
Centre for Nanoscience and Nanobiotechnology (CNANO)

What it is
In connection with the UnB Department of Biological Sciences (IB), the Centre for Nanoscience and Nanobiotechnology (CNANO) conducts research and transfers technology related to the applications of nanotechnology in biomedicine. Created in 2005, the centre’s proposal is to promote and deepen interaction and the exchange of information among professionals in the area. However, since 2000, a team of about 20 researchers has already been working in the sector.

What it is
The Centre for Primatology provides a structure for primate research. The centre makes use of a laboratory, offices, classrooms, a dormitory, a kitchen and daily transportation to UnB. Altogether, there are 36 nurseries where species of neotropical primates are housed, such as the Callithrix penicillata, Saguinus midas, Leontopithecus crysomelas, Saimiri ustus and Cebus apella. Wild populations of Callithrix penicillata and Alouata caraya can be found in the vicinity of the centre.
 
Olympic Center (CO)

What it is
The UnB Olympic Centre (CO) is the University’s main venue for leisure, including courts, a soccer field and a pool. Academic community courses are offered such as ballroom dancing, capoeira, basketball and volleyball. There is also the Oriented Program of Physical Activities for Diabetics (PROAFIDI), an ongoing research and extension project for the education of those who suffer from diabetes.
 
Centre for Digital Memory (CMD)

What it is
The UnB Centre for Digital Memory (CMB) studies, documents and publishes the Brazilian cultural heritage. There is a collection of around 3 million images of Brazil from the 16th to the 19th century on the internet. Raising funds from companies like Petrobrás and agencies that support research, it articulates Brazilian culture through applying preservation, research and digital technologies. The centre establishes partnerships with historical archives interested in making their collections available on the web, joining the CMB database for historical documentation.
