What it is
Founded in 1986, the UnB Support Centre for Technological Development (CDT) transfers technology, provides specialized services, and promotes interaction between the University, business people, entrepreneurs and society in general. The center also provides important tools for anyone wishing to start up a new business or do research. To achieve this goal, the CDT offers six programs and three centres (see below) with a multidisciplinary team comprised of 65 professionals, most of whom hold undergraduate/graduate degrees or specializations in the field.

The Federal District Centre for Mouth Cancer DF/HUB (CCBDF)

What it is
The Federal District Centre for Mouth Cancer (CCBDF), tied to the Department of Odontology (ODT) at the UnB School of Health Sciences (FS), is active in the diagnosis and prevention of mouth cancer and its negative aftereffects. The centre provides care to patients suffering from malignant or pre-malignant mouth lesions and refers them for specialized treatment. In addition, it provides services to cancer patients before, during and after oncological treatment. The area also serves as a centre for teaching, research and extension in mouth cancer, with academic activities for students.

What it is
The UnB Documentation Center (Cedoc) organizes the university’s cultural archives, preserving them and guaranteeing access to them and to the other documents on file. Created in 1986, the center also publicizes the holdings of other institutions that make their files available to UnB.

What it is
Since 1979, the UnB Centre for Distance Education has been developing and conducting distance education. Its purpose is to expand access to knowledge in the various areas through innovative guidelines and actions.In addition, CEAD seeks to expand the area that it covers, serving not only the demand involved in university extension, but also undergraduate and graduate studies.

What it is
The UnB Centre for Advanced Multidisciplinary Studies (CEAM) promotes multidisciplinary teaching, research and extension through its different thematic centres. CEAM has been regularly offering undergraduate courses and non-degree graduate studies since 1986, also sponsoring seminars, conferences and art exhibitions. The journal Cadernos do Ceam is just one its many publications. In 2010, the Coordinating Body for the Further Education of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) approved the graduate degree program in “Development, Society and International Cooperation”, and in 2011 it was already underway.

What it is
Created in 1996, the Interdisciplinary Centre for Transportation Studies (CEFTRU) is a centre for transportation science and technology.The centre generates research; produces and publicizes knowledge; trains human resources; executes projects for public and private bodies; and constructs computational tools aimed at guaranteeing the efficiency, efficacy and effectiveness of transport. The institution publicizes the developed knowledge through publication of books, papers and journal articles, and through Brazilian and international congresses.CEFTRU is a scientific organization that plans, conceptualizes and implements projects for public and private bodies, directly impacting transportation operations.

What it is
The UnB Centre for Information Technology (CPD) administers the network of computers and e-mail services, and provides support to internal users. In addition, the centre is active in the publicizing of technological areas and the use of information technology at many different levels; in effect, contributing to the training of new professionals and social inclusion. In 1996, the centre installed the UnB School of Information Technology to serve the needs of the university community as well as society in general. The school has a unique teaching methodology and a differentiated teaching method.

What it is
The UnB Centre for the Maintenance of Scientific Equipment (CME) was created in 1986 for the maintenance and repair of machinery used at the University. Its purpose is to introduce new concepts, methodologies and techniques to reduce equipment stoppages, focusing on reducing costs and enabling teaching and research activities.

What it is
The Centre for Cultural and Educational Production conducts and encourages research in the fields of communication and education, and promotes education and culture through audiovisual publicity. The four main foci of CPCE's activity are the preparation and ongoing education of professionals; information and communication technology research; spreading knowledge to different social groups; and fundraising to guarantee the centre's sustainability. Since 2006, the centre has been running radio station UnBT, on the University of Brasilia Channel, transmitted by the operator, NET, on channel 6.
 
Centre for Selection and the Promotion of Events (CESPE)

What it is
The UnB Centre for Selection and Promotion of Events (CESPE) organizes government entrance exams and college entrance exams, evaluates educational systems and prepares training programs for employees. In addition, it organizes UnB's Serial Evaluation Program (PAS) and, since the 1990's, has been coordinating the Interaction Program with Secondary and Elementary Education, which aims to enable the interaction of basic education with post-secondary education.
 
International Centre for Condensed Matter Physics (CIFMC)

What it is
The International Centre for Condensed Matter Physics contributes to the scientific and technological development of Brazil through research in the area of condensed matter physics. With a strong international calling, the centre has become a hub of innovation in interdisciplinary research with important implications for materials science and industrial applications.

What it is
The UnB Integrated Centre for Land Management (CIORD), in partnership with colleges, institutes, departments and other units at UnB, other Brazilian universities, international universities, government bodies, nongovernmental organizations and companies, is involved in interdisciplinary work in the sector. The centre helps refine methodological guidelines and operational procedures for Brazilian land management and bring them into line with regional and local specifics.
